The association

In 1979, Ms. Suzanne Combremont, former teacher in Les Diablerets, made a visit to the town of Ormont-Dessus with the aim of creating a regional museum. The idea came to fruition in 1989 with the creation of the Musée des Ormonts association. This brings together the municipalities of Ormont-Dessous and Ormont-Dessus. The association has set itself with the following goals:

  • Harvest, collect, conserve and stock Ormonan heritage (objects, written and iconographic documents, sound and visual recordings, etc.)

  • Study and carry out new research: study of the Ormonan language, collection of localities, recordings of audio testimonies, targeted historical research: roads, natural hazards, photographs, etc.

  • Share knowledge to the general public (exhibitions, publications, themed itineraries, architectural visits, conferences, provision of documentation). These ambitions have materialised over the years through the creation of traveling exhibitions and the publication of books and recordings.

The Museum des Ormonts Association is recognized as being of public utility by the State of Vaud. Your donations are tax deductible.
